Cookie Policy

The short version: this site sets a single functional cookie, to remember your theme, and a second one to remember whether you accepted analytics. Signed in to the ClosePack product, your browser also carries the cookies that keep you signed in. We count page views with Google Analytics only if you accept it on the bar at the foot of the page; until you do, nothing on this site is sent to Google Analytics. We set no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies anywhere. The only other party that can set one here is the video player on the home page, and it loads nothing at all until you press play.
The cookies this site sets
On this site we set two cookies. The first, cp-theme, remembers whether you prefer the light or dark appearance so the page renders correctly the moment it loads. It is strictly functional and contains only your theme choice.
The second, cp-consent, is set once you have answered the cookie bar. It records only the word you chose, accepted or declined, so the bar does not return on every visit. It lasts a year. It is strictly functional too: it holds your decision about the analytics cookies and nothing else, and you can change that decision at any time with the control described under Managing cookies below.
When you are signed in to the product
The product at app.closepack.io sets more than this page used to describe, and saying so is the point of this section. Signing in gives your browser session cookies, set through Supabase, which runs our database and our sign-in. They are what keep you signed in from one page to the next, so they are strictly necessary: block them and you are signed out on every click. They carry your session, not your financial data, which stays in the database. The theme cookie above behaves the same way in the product as it does here.
How we count visits, and the choice you get
This site uses Google Analytics to see which pages are read and where visitors arrive from, and it runs only if you accept it. The bar at the foot of the page asks once: Accept turns it on, Decline leaves it off, and either way the site works exactly the same. Until you accept, nothing on this site is sent to Google Analytics. If you accept, Google’s tag sets two cookies in your browser, _ga and one named after our property, which give your browser a random identifier so that a return visit is counted as a return rather than as a stranger. They last up to two years and contain no name, no email address and nothing you typed. Besides the page itself, the tag can record ordinary interactions with it: how far down you scrolled, a click on a link that leaves the site, a file download, opening the teaser. Your IP address reaches Google in the course of the request, as it does for anything loaded from another server. We run it with Google’s advertising signals and ad personalisation switched off, so it feeds no advertising profile.
What we do not use
We set no advertising cookies and no cross-site trackers, on this site or in the product. Analytics cookies are set on this site only after you accept them, and never in the product. The theme cookie is strictly functional, as is the one that remembers your choice, and the session cookies are strictly necessary to keep you signed in; the analytics cookies are the ones you are asked about.
The video on the home page
The home page carries a short teaser hosted on YouTube. It is embedded through youtube-nocookie.com, Google’s reduced-tracking host, and it is not loaded with the page. Until you press play you are looking at a still image served from this site, and nothing at all is requested from the video host. (Analytics is a separate contact with Google, and it happens only if you have accepted it on the bar.)
Pressing play is what loads the player. From that point Google receives your IP address, your browser’s user agent, and the fact that the request came from this site, and it may set its own cookies in your browser under its own terms. If you never press play, none of that happens. There is no way to reach the video without asking for it, and that click is the consent, so the bar at the foot of the page does not ask about the video.
If that changes
We ask before setting analytics cookies, and the bar at the foot of the page is that question. If we add other non-essential cookies in the future, we will update this page and ask for your consent before those cookies are set.
Managing cookies
Changing your mind about analytics takes one click, and it is as easy as accepting was: the control at the foot of every page, next to the copyright line, reads Withdraw analytics consent if you accepted, and Change your cookie choice if you declined. Withdrawing records your refusal, removes the analytics cookies Google set, and reloads the page; changing your choice brings the bar back to ask again. The same control is here:
You can also clear or block cookies in your browser settings at any time. If you block the theme cookie, the site still works; it will simply fall back to the default appearance on each visit. Clear the cp-consent cookie and the bar will ask you again. Blocking the session cookies is different: they are what signing in produces, so without them the product cannot keep you signed in.
